Can you believe the festive season is upon us already?
With so much food around, overeating can be almost impossible to avoid — and I wanted to share something really helpful: a simple, evidence-based way to feel better when you’ve overeaten.
Personally, I hate the feeling. I feel uncomfortable, heavy, and bloated… and I know a lot of people feel the same.
Here’s what’s actually happening in your body when you overeat, in simple, science-supported terms: your stomach stretches more than usual, which slows digestion and creates that heavy, over-full feeling.
Your blood sugar and insulin also rise higher than normal, which is why you may feel tired, bloated, or even crave more food later.
But there’s something simple that genuinely helps you feel better: Walking.
A 10–15 minute walk after eating supports digestion by helping your stomach empty more comfortably and keeping your blood sugar from spiking as high.
If you’re able to walk after your meals in the days following a big eating day, research shows it can help your body get back to feeling its best.
You’ll feel clearer, more settled, and more in control instead of stuck in that uncomfortable “I overdid it” mode.
Next time you overindulge, remember: a short walk can make a big difference.
